Mark Wahlberg in Avon Man?

Dealine New York reports that Mark Wahlberg is in talks to join the cast of the movie "Avon Man". Here is the article:

Mark Wahlberg Knocking On The Door For Fox Comedy ‘Avon Man’

EXCLUSIVE: Mark Wahlberg is in talks to come aboard Avon Man, the 20th Century Fox comedy that once had Hugh Jackman ready to star and Kevin Lima to direct. I’m told that Wahlberg and partner Stephen Levinson will board the projects as producers alongside Krasnoff Foster’s Gary Foster and it will be developed as a potential star vehicle for Wahlberg. Lima is no longer involved.

Michael McCullers will come aboard and write a new draft of a script originated by Kevin Bisch. Jackman stepped out because he expected to do The Wolverine and had a schedule clash before that project was pushed back. In the film, a group of guys are laid off from an auto dealership, and one reluctantly becomes an Avon salesman. He survives the emasculation, relies on his charm and becomes a top seller. He then tries to save his town and help his struggling family by pulling in his macho unemployed pals to hawk beauty products so they can win a regional contest. Wahlberg and McCullers are repped by WME and Wahlberg is managed by Leverage.

Wahlberg has been mixing dramas and comedies and will soon be seen starring in the Seth MacFarlane-directed Ted. He wrapped the drama Broken City opposite Russell Crowe and is now starring with Dwayne Johnson in the Michael Bay-directed Pain and Gain. He then stars with Denzel Washington in 2 Guns and the Peter Berg-directed Lone Survivor, both of which are being made by Emmatt/Furla and Universal.

Mark will be featured in AFI’s (American Film Institute) Master Class: The Art of Collaboration on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) on Tuesday, May 8, at 10 p.m. (ET). For more information, go to RBR.com.

Watch behind-the-scenes clip from Contraband

The Blue Ray version of Contraband will include a behind-the-scenes featurette, and here is a clip:

A local New Orleans publication NOLA.com posted an article about Mark's upcoming movie "2 Guns" filming in the city from June 11, 2012 to August 14, 2012.

'2 Guns' to bring Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington and Paula Patton back to NOLA

The crime thriller "2 Guns" will be bringing some big guns to New Orleans this summer. The big-budget, Universal Pictures-backed project is set to shoot in town in June with a cast that includes Mark Wahlberg, Denzel Washington and Paula Patton.

Between them, Wahlberg, Washington and Patton are responsible for three of the biggest action films of the past six months, in "Contraband," "Safe House" and "Mission: Impossible -- Ghost Protocol," respectively.

"2 Guns," with a reported budget of $80 million, will mark a return to the city for all three actors.

For Wahlberg, it will be his third stint in New Orleans in just two years. Earlier this year, he wrapped on the political thriller "Broken City," with Russell Crowe; and in early 2011, he shot the crime drama "Contraband" in town.

Washington and Patton co-starred in the locally shot, locally set 2006 thriller "Déjà Vu."

Emmett/Fulra Films, a near-constant presence in the Louisiana film industry over the past few years, is producing.

"2 Guns," which will reunite Wahlberg with "Contraband" writer-director Baltasar Kormakur, tells the story of a DEA agent and a Navy intelligence officer who -- assigned to investigate each other -- realize that they are pawns in an elaborate mob scheme.

It is based on the graphic novel by Steven Grant and, after splitting time between New Orleans and New Mexico, is scheduled for release in late 2013, according to Variety.

"2 Guns" is one of the newer additions to the most recently released state-issued listing of film and TV projects either shooting, or preparing to shoot, in Louisiana.

Mark Wahlberg on memorizing lines for his movies

In an article from Entertainment Weekly, Mark talks about having to memorize some his toughest lines yet for the movie "Ted" - a list of white trash girls’ names. Here's an excerpt:

“I was just sitting here trying to think if I can do that again,” Walhberg told EW last month after MacFarlane presented roughly 10 minutes of footage from his film at the SXSW Film Festival. “I always pride myself on knowing my lines and showing up on time and being prepared. But that’s the only time I ever had trouble with it.” Wahlberg said he usually starts working on a script a couple months before production, but for that scene in particular, he wrote out each name by hand “something like 1,000 times.”
“He’s being very modest,” countered MacFarlane. “[He is] the single most prepared human being. It’s astonishing. I would be dead in the water if I had to memorize that many names in a row. I was expecting to have to have cue cards. And Mark said, ‘No, I got it.’ He just rattled them all off from memory. It was insane.”
And how hard was it for MacFarlane to come up with all those names in the first place? “Oh, this is America,” laughed MacFarlane. “Not too hard.”
